Natural beauty

Bikini Challenge? No, thanks!

In 1946 the French engineer Louis Réard designed the two-piece women’s swimming costume. He named it bikini, inspired by the island where atomic tests were being carried out after the Second World War.

And who did Réard choose to wear the first bikini? The stripper Micheline Bernardini. The success was so brutal that advertising has since popularised the idea of the Bikini Challenge, i.e. that is to say when we start to get good weather, and summer vacation is comming, women have to work hard and fast to look good in a bikini.

But the Bikini Challenge is a source of frustration and even health risks for many women who want to fit into the established canons of beauty, in addition they’ve to invest in impossible products and treatments. In recent years, feminism has been rejecting the Bikini Challenge and promoting the concept of natural feminine beauty. In other words, if you want to buy a bikini, buy it, regardless of whether you fit the 90-60-90 cliché.
