Has a telephone company operator woken you up at ungodly hours to ask you if you wanted a service you didn’t ask for? Do you receive commercial calls day in and day out? More and more people are joining the Robinson List to claim their right to privacy.

If you’ve run out of patience and can’t take any more harassing phone calls, it’s time to join the Robinson List. You may not be able to avoid all the calls, but you will certainly reduce the volume. It is a free service and many countries have already created their own list. In the case of Spain, it is managed by the Asociación Española de Economía Digital [Spanish Association of Digital Economy]. 

Through its website, the organisation asks you to fill in a form, where you have to specify your personal and contact details and a password so that you can access your account. Once you are logged in, you can choose which telephone numbers, e-mail addresses or postal addresses you want to stop receiving commercial information from. In addition, there is a list of economic sectors to choose which type of company you are willing to receive advertising from; and which type you are not.
