Episode 20 | People: What do we play at?

Playing is an inherent human activity that often helps us in the process of socialisation. However, the irruption of screens has changed our games. Víctor Baroja, president of the Catalan Federation of Traditional Games and Sports, explains the difference in Catalan between “esport” and “deport” and the impact that technology has had on games, although, as he acknowledges, “we lack perspective with screens”.

    Un d’aquells “episodis” o vídeos que sorprenen, que diuen molt més del que es pot suposar amb el títol.
    Tot ell és sucós, però destacaria dues coses: tractar els sorolls dels jocs com un patrimoni i la definició de “deport”: jugar acordant les regles entre tots.
    I de fet, sí, som una país d’associacions. Gràcies.
