11Onze, honoured at the prestigious Webby Awards
The Webby Awards, considered the most important awards on the Internet, this year included La Plaça of 11Onze among the best financial services and banking websites in the world. Also competing in its category were Apple, Citibank, Morgan Stanley and Bank of America.
La Plaça of 11Onze has been selected Official Honoree at the Webby Awards, considered the ‘Oscars’ of the Internet. It has achieved this recognition in the category of the best financial services and banking website, in which giants such as Apple, Citibank, Morgan Stanley and Bank of America have also been distinguished.
The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), have been hailed by ‘The New York Times’ as the “Internet’s highest honour”. Since 1996, the awards have annually honoured excellence in a range of digital fields, from websites and mobiles to apps and games.
This year, the Webby Awards received more than 14,300 entries from 70 countries around the world. These included Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Laverne Cox, Gucci, Megan Thee Stallion and NASA. Dermot O’Shea, founder of Wondr, the digital product development agency that collaborated in the creation of La Plaça of 11Onze, has stressed that “it is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best”.
Claire Graves, president of the Webby Awards, declared that “the honorees, like Wondr and 11Onze, are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet”. Toni Mata, director of content at 11Onze, expressed his satisfaction for this recognition of “the vision of 11Onze and the excellent work of Wondr and the art team led by Laia Gubern”. He added that seeing 11Onze’s name alongside that of world-class giants just one year after launching La Plaça “confirms what we are doing is having a clear impact on the international financial system”.
A revolutionary model
James Sène, Chairman of 11Onze, highlighted the “achievement” that means being an Official Honoree at the Webby Awards, which is reserved exclusively for the top 20% of entries. Sène also emphasised the originality of La Plaça, “an innovative digital experience that combines a social network with a system to manage learning”, and highlighted the fact that it has been able to attract “more than 13,000 members, double the initial target.”
11Onze is the first fintech community in Europe offering financial literacy and wealth creation services to its members.
Its innovative model hinges on a private social network (La Plaça), a digital currency (Les Peles), a universal banking super app (El Canut) and an expansive educational library, which provides content on finance, economics, well-being and sustainability. To date, 11Onze has published nearly 1,200 videos and 1,100 articles online in three languages (English, Catalan and Spanish).
