11Onze has launched an ambitious plan with 11Onze School. Recently, the European Commission has presented a new <\/b>framework<\/b><\/a> to promote financial education, because it estimates that only 30% of the population has basic knowledge. Head of agents Mireia Cano explains why it is really important to know about the financial world in order to emancipate oneself in a new episode of L\u2019Estat de la Naci\u00f3.<\/b><\/h3>\n

\u201cIn our day-to-day life we can\u2019t do anything without money. It affects all our decisions. In this context, <\/span>the responsibility to educate ourselves allows us to make better decisions, both individually and collectively<\/b>,\u201d Mireia Cano says. The head of agents says that ideally, we should learn the first financial notions from a very young age and, little by little, we should be given the keys to know \u201chow the financial world works.\u201d Unfortunately, in most cases this is not the case.<\/span><\/p>\n

Precisely to combat this lack of knowledge, 11Onze was set up around <\/span>La Pla\u00e7a, \u201ca platform aimed at making this collective intelligence grow,<\/b> and which publishes a lot of content,\u201d according to Cano. La Pla\u00e7a is fed by the <\/span>Magazine<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>11Onze TV<\/span><\/a> and the <\/span>Learn<\/span><\/a> section, with courses, training and even animated series such as <\/span>El Diner<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we talk about financial knowledge, we don\u2019t mean the ambition to read a newspaper like the \u2018Financial Times\u2019 every day. It is rather<\/span> that we read complex concepts that appear in specialised economic media, and that we can understand them<\/b>,\u201d the head of agents says. Moreover, not only do we need to be able to understand these concepts, but we also need to know how to apply them in our daily lives. \u201cThis is happening right now, for example, with inflation and with a public debt that is skyrocketing,\u201d she adds.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>This is an individual responsibility that we have to take on collectively<\/b>. If no one helps you get these complex ideas down so that you can understand them in a simple way, we are lost,\u201d says Cano. This is how we do it at La Pla\u00e7a, where we encourage our community to become financially empowered, and we reward them when they do so with Peles, our own currency.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Financial education at 11Onze School<\/b><\/h3>\n

In the same vein, at fincom we have also set up <\/b>11Onze School<\/b><\/a>. \u201cThe project came about thanks to a follower of La Pla\u00e7a, who is a high school teacher, and asked us if we could come and give a financial education session to his students,\u201d the head of agents recalls. \u201cWe decided that we would not only do that session, but that <\/span>we would open an educational space in all the educational centres, companies or business schools that need it<\/b>,\u201d she adds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
