He succeeds on YouTube and Instagram. He is one of the most important creators in our country and, despite everything, he warns that the Catalan audiovisual sector \u201cdoes not believe in young people\u2019s talent\u201d.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This Catalan \u2018youtuber\u2019, who has built a professional career, like most of his generation, outside the conventional media ecosystem, <\/span><b>says that he is successful in Spanish, whereas, in Catalan, he finds no way to stay profitable despite his accumulated great success<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Gise denounced it a few days ago in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/pol_gise\/status\/1450797551008063501\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">viral thread<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on Twitter, and now he opens up to 11Onze\u2019s content director, Toni Mata, in the latest podcast published in <\/span><b>La Pla\u00e7a<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cSometimes I\u2019ve even felt contempt,\u201d he says.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><b>At the beginning I made the videos in Spanish, out of pure diglossia. How sad I didn\u2019t even think about it!<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> And when I started to publish videos in Catalan, I felt much more free,\u201d he continues. Since Pol Gise already knows how the social networks work, it didn\u2019t take long for his profiles to grow in Catalan. \u201cIt was fantastic, many people liked it, and I did it in my mother tongue,\u201d he exclaims. And yet, though his social networks have grown, he has realised that he cannot monetise this content as he does in Spanish.<\/span><\/p>\n\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"component gallery\">\n  <div class=\"container\">\n    <div class=\"row\">\n      <div class=\"col col-lg-10 offset-lg-1\">\n        <div id=\"slider\" class=\"carousel slide\">\n          <div class=\"carousel-inner\">\n            <div class=\"carousel-item active video-player inline-player\" data-video-id=\"6278728627001\">\n              <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"d-block w-100\" src=\"https:\/\/www.11onze.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/VISUALS_PODCAST_IMAGE_VIDEO_BLOCK_PSN_PERSONES.jpg\" alt=\"\">\n              <button type=\"button\" class=\"play\"><\/button>\n              <div class=\"carousel-caption\">\n                <p>Episode 4 | People: Pol Gise<\/p>\n              <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n          <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"component text\">\n  <div class=\"container\">\n\n\n    <div class=\"row\">\n      <div class=\"col  col-lg-8  offset-lg-2\">\n        <h3><b>\u201cA Titanic with an iceberg inside\u201d<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His frustration is accentuated when he observes how politicians manage public money and the Corporaci\u00f3 Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals (CCMA). \u201cTV3 is like a Titanic with an iceberg inside. <\/span><b>It\u2019s sinking indeed, but it\u2019s more profitable for them to sink it, because they are living fine meanwhile<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, than to change direction a bit or plug the holes,\u201d he criticises.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gise also recalls that at the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omnium.cat\/ca\/jordi-cuixart-aquesta-llei-vol-ser-lestocada-definitiva-al-catala-es-la-llei-wert-portada-a-la-pantalla\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">last event<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> organised by \u00d2mnium he felt disconcerted. The organisation\u2019s president, Jordi Cuixart, denounced the fact that the new Audiovisual Law being negotiated by the Spanish government could further reduce the visibility of the Catalan language. \u201cNow they criticise it, but the problems of the language already existed. The president of \u00d2mnium said that he didn\u2019t want Catalan artists to leave the country, but the thing is that you don\u2019t have to leave. <\/span><b>I haven\u2019t left Catalonia and I am living by using Spanish, a language that is not my own<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d he regrets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To Gise, the only answer to this setback should not be to invest in foreign productions, but rather encouraging Catalonia\u2019s own production. \u201cObviously we are not a power like the United States, but there are many more things that can be done. What do people like and what is our tax money being spent on? Something is wrong. <\/span><b>I\u2019m not saying that everything must be invested in social networks, but someone should sit and talk, and they are not doing it<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d, continues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>Generation Z, a cancelled youth?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cNow they\u2019re trying to revive the Super3 channel, but they\u2019re six years behind schedule,\u201d Gise says. In fact, he is surprised about how hardly understood is what he and his colleagues are doing. \u201cI was invited to a programme and they wanted me to dress up as a sumo player and play with giant balls&#8230; There are \u2018youtubers\u2019 who do that, but it\u2019s not my case,\u201d he confesses. Gise also admits that both,<\/span><b> pressure from social media and from misguided expectations of the culture industry are causing him anxiety<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An anxiety that, in fact, is perpetual for his generation. The \u2018youtuber\u2019 recalls his clearest personal example when writing his book, \u2018<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grup62.cat\/llibre-2040-humanitat-cancelada\/321902\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2040. Humanitat Cancel\u00b7lada<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019 (Columna Edicions, 2020), a process that made him fall into depression. \u201cIf I don\u2019t sell enough books, am I useless? I have been feeling very lonely,\u201d he says. To finish, he recommends the leading essayist of a youth that many feel, effectively, cancelled: Mark Fisher and his \u2018<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.johnhuntpublishing.com\/zer0-books\/our-books\/capitalist-realism\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Capitalist Realism<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019 (Zero Books, 2009). \u201c<\/span><b>He links mental health problems very well with this whole economic system<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d he says. Commenting on this pairing, however, would take another interview.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>11Onze is becoming a phenomenon as the first Fintech community in Catalonia.
